Honduras Customs Regulation – Northbound Moves
2016-03-24
Please be advised that changes in Customs procedures pertaining to cargo exiting Honduras may impact your business. Customers should prepare for these upcoming requirements when shipping to include the following:
-
The deadline for booking confirmation is 30 hours prior to a vessel’s arrival. Customs will now impose a fine of $4,200 per shipment for any changes after the deadline.
-
The port operator, Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), will now require that an export declaration number be submitted to Crowley at least 24 hours prior to vessel arrival in order to load a container aboard a vessel. Cargo missing this required documentation number will be not be loaded and could incur additional port charges.
Any fines or charges incurred due to customers’ noncompliance with these regulations will be at the customer’s expense. We will continue to work with Customs and OPC on implementation, and will provide an update as more information becomes available.
