Demurrage Rules – VI & Tortola/Virgin Gorda

Crowley has begun a demurrage program in St. Johns, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda. In these islands, Crowley’s detention and demurrage department will charge customers directly after their demurrage is calculated, based on the period the units exit and return to St. Thomas. Effective 12/20/05 the following free time/detention will apply for St. Johns, USVI, Tortola and Virgin Gorda:

CAMN-601, rule 21 L: FREE TIME/DETENTION AT ST. JOHNS, VI INBOUND CARGO

FREE TIME
1. The Free Time for Inbound Loaded Dry, Open Top, Flatbed Trailers and chassis is fourteen (14) calendar days.
2. The Free Time for Inbound Refrigerated Trailers is eleven (11) calendar days.
3. The Free Time for Inbound Tank Trailers is ten (10) calendar days.
4. The Free Time for Inbound Privately Owned Vehicles is twelve (12) calendar days.

Free time will commence the first 8 am following the day equipment is out gated to the connecting carrier in St. Thomas. Demurrage charges are applicable on equipment beyond the free time as outlined until the equipment is returned to carrier terminal in St.Thomas

Demurrage:
After the expiration of free time stipulated, demurrage will be assessed until container is returned to Carrier’s terminal and interchanged to carrier.
Dry, Open Top, Flatbed or Chassis and Trailers – 1 to 14 days – $20.00; 15 days and over – $50
Refrigerated or Tank Trailers – 1 to 14 days – $100; 15 days and over – $200
